Clash Node Timeouts/Failures/Connectivity Issues
Clash is an excellent proxy software, but its highly configurable features can be complex for beginners. Generally, as long as the interface is configured correctly, Clash will work smoothly. However, sometimes configuration issues, such as with the built-in DNS function, can cause network issues.

During sensitive periods or when updating nodes, Clash's node server may display timeouts or failures, and even manual connection attempts may fail. Furthermore, other clients using the same server (such as netch) function normally; the issue only occurs with Clash.
First, confirm that the issue is not caused by other factors. For example, ensure the node server is available and that the system time is consistent with the server time. If there is a time difference, it is recommended to synchronize the system time by visiting http://www.time163.com/.
The built-in DNS function can cause network connectivity issues, especially if it is not working properly. To resolve this:
- Open the Clash yml configuration file.
- Find the dns configuration block and set the enable option to false.
For example, the following is a typical yml configuration file (using Clash for Windows):
If the file isn't correctly linked, you can manually open the yml file in a text editor. The Clash for Windows configuration file is typically located in %USERPROFILE%.config\clash\profiles . You can copy this path and paste it into the Explorer address bar for quick access.
Save the changes and check if everything is back to normal. If your proxy service is provided by an airport, you can request that airport modify the default configuration. Renewing your subscription should automatically take effect on the client.
By disabling the built-in DNS function, this often resolves Clash node connection issues.
